COSAC 2026
Last updated: 20 August 2026
This policy covers two kinds of booking. Most of the arrangements below apply to conference registrations, whether in person or online. If you have bought a ticket for the Friday evening public lecture on its own, see Friday evening public lecture tickets for the arrangements that apply to you.
This policy does not limit any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
If ISCAST cancels COSAC 2026, you can choose to receive a full refund of your registration fee.
You can also request a full refund if we make a significant change that substantially alters what you purchased. This could include:
Small changes to speakers, sessions, timetables, rooms or venues within the same general area would not normally be considered significant.
If COSAC 2026 is postponed because of circumstances beyond ISCAST’s reasonable control, such as a government direction, natural disaster, serious public-health risk or venue closure, your registration will initially be transferred to the new dates.
Once the new dates are announced, you may request a full refund if you are unable to attend.
We will provide more information about the refund process at the time. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and any other applicable law will continue to apply.
If a technical problem within ISCAST’s reasonable control prevents you from accessing a significant part of the online conference, we will provide an appropriate solution.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
This does not normally cover problems caused by your own device, internet connection or local computer systems. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law still apply.
If you can no longer attend, you may transfer your registration to someone else free of charge.
Transfers can be made until registrations close on 23 October 2026. Different arrangements apply to public lecture tickets bought on their own.
To transfer your ticket, email contact@iscast.org and include:
You may ask to change from an in-person ticket to an online ticket, or from an online ticket to an in-person ticket, until 23 October 2026.
Please email contact@iscast.org to request the change.
If the new ticket costs more, you will need to pay the difference.
If the new ticket costs less, we will refund the difference, less any stated administration fee, provided we receive your request by 23 October 2026.
Changes from online to in-person attendance are subject to availability.
We understand that plans change. If you can no longer attend COSAC 2026, please contact us as soon as possible.
The following table shows the refund you can normally expect when you choose to cancel your registration:
| When we receive your cancellation request | Standard refund |
|---|---|
| On or before Thursday 24 September 2026 | Full refund, less a $20 administration fee |
| From Friday 25 September to Friday 23 October 2026, inclusive | 50% refund |
| After Friday 23 October 2026 | A refund is not normally available |
We know that unexpected circumstances can arise. If these standard arrangements do not adequately address your situation, please contact us. We will consider your request fairly and may offer a full or partial refund, taking into account the circumstances and any costs already committed on your behalf.
These arrangements apply when you choose to cancel your registration. They do not limit any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
These arrangements apply to tickets bought for the Friday evening public lecture on 6 November 2026 on their own. If you have registered for the full conference, your attendance at the public lecture is covered by the arrangements above.
If we cancel the public lecture, you can choose to receive a full refund of your ticket price. You can also request a full refund if we make a significant change that substantially alters what you booked. Changes to the room, the running order or the supporting program would not normally be considered significant. If Nick Spencer or Peter Harrison is unable to attend, we will let ticket holders know as soon as we can and you may request a full refund.
You may transfer your ticket to someone else free of charge at any time before the event. Email contact@iscast.org with the name and contact details used for your booking, and the new attendee’s name and contact details.
If you can no longer attend, we will refund your ticket in full if we receive your request on or before Friday 30 October 2026. After that date a refund is not normally available, although you are still welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else. If your circumstances make this difficult, please contact us and we will consider your request fairly.
If the lecture is postponed, the arrangements set out under If the conference is postponed apply to your ticket in the same way.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law still apply.
We do not offer change-of-mind refunds for printed materials or merchandise once they have been sent.
However, you may still be entitled to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law if an item is faulty, damaged, not as described or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee.
If you have a question about any of these arrangements, email us at contact@iscast.org and we will be glad to help.
